We know more about cancer prevention, detection, and treatment than ever before--yet not all segments of the U.S. population have benefited to the fullest extent possible from these advances. Some ethnic minorities experience more cancer than the majority population, and poor people - no matter what their ethnicity - often lack access to adequate cancer care. This book provides an authoritative view of cancer as it is experienced by ethnic minorities and the medically underserved. It offers conclusions and recommendations in these areas: defining and understanding special populations, and improving the collection of cancer-related data; setting appropriate priorities for and increasing the effectiveness of specific National Institutes of Health (NIH) research programs, to ensure that special populations are represented in clinical trials; and disseminating research results to health professionals serving these populations, with sensitivity to the issues of cancer survivorship. Stimmige Kollaboration des Elektronikers (To Rococo Rot) und der Pionierin des Wohnzimmer-Pop. ""Tesri"" ist das arabisch-türkische Wort für Beschleunigung; Barbara Morgenstern und Robert Lippok waren unabhängig voneinander einige Male in Istanbul, und ein wenig überträgt ihre Musik das Kolorit der Stadt am Bosporus. Morgenstern und Lippok, die beide in Berlin leben, lassen sich auf ""Tesri"" gegenseitig genügend Zeit und Raum. Die morsezeichenhaften Wiederholungen und melodischen Neuerfindungen Lippoks fügen sich perfekt zusammen mit Barbara Morgensterns Musikalität und ihrer Idee von Pop. Klavier, Gitarre, Micromodular, Flöte, Schlagzeug, Software, Synthesizer und Computer vereinigen sich miteinander. Das Ergebnis ist eine sehr verständige und sinnige Musik. In das gemeinsame Soundgewebe konnten auch weitere Künstler ihren Stil mit einbringen: so die Japanerin Mieko Shimozo und der Vokalist Damon Aaron (Telefon Tel Aviv), dessen Gesang an Robert Wyatt erinnert. Thermally excited defects such as vortices, disclinations, dislocations, vacancies and interstitials play a key role in the physics of crystals, superfluids, superconductors, liquid crystals and polymer arrays. Geometrical aspects of statistical mechanics become particularly important when thermal fluctuations entangle or crumple extended line-like or surface-like objects in three dimensions. In the case of entangled vortices above the first-order flux lattice melting transition in high temperature superconductors, the lines themselves are defects. A variety of low temperature theories combined with renormalization group ideas are used to describe the delicate interplay between defects, statistical mechanics and geometry characteristic of these problems in condensed matter physics.
